“For the needy shall not always be forgotten nor the hope of the poor perish forever” – Psalms 9:l8
Our Interfaith Hospitality Ministry (IHM) is a part of the Witness & Mission Ministry Branch, which seeks to make a positive difference in the lives of others for the purposes of Christ, whether or not they will ever be part of the community of faith. The mission of the Witness & Mission Ministry branch is to incarnate the practice of Risk-Taking Mission & Service, which stretches congregations beyond service to people they already know and exposes them to people, situations, and needs that they would never ordinarily encounter apart from a deliberate intention to serve Christ.
IHM supports Family Promise of Morris County NJ (formerly Interfaith Council for Homeless Families of Morris County). Family Promise works to end homelessness one family at a time. (Link to www.familypromisemorris.org)
IHM helps to host homeless families at the Church of the Redeemer in Morristown four times a year for one week. At Redeemer, CBC volunteers provide food and fellowship for no more than 14 guests. This is done on a rotating schedule for two-hour evening time slots, or overnight stays Monday through Friday; OR two-hour time slots during the day or evening on Saturday or an overnight stay into Sunday.
Guests are given dinner, beds for the night and morning breakfast. Their daytime hours are spent searching for employment, working, attending classes and seeking affordable housing.
We invite you to learn more about us and the families we serve. Please consider sharing your time and joining us in this ministry of Radical Hospitality.*
We believe God strengthens the Body of Christ through mission and service and God empowers the Body of Christ through witness. To that end, IHM strives to incarnate the practice of Risk-Taking Mission & Service, which stretches believers out of their comfort zones to make sacrifices for the glory of God.
